In 1992, George Snyder was working as a truck driver and had just bought his first machine to do some small, residential excavation work in his spare time. George’s knowledge and experience were steadily increasing as he began doing work around his house and helping many neighbors and friends with their projects. For the next couple years, George was working as a truck driver during the day and doing a great deal of residential site development on the evenings and weekends.
George finally came to the realization that he was happier doing the excavation work and—with the support of his family—took the risk of quitting his day job and concentrating on Snyder Excavating. George began to grow his business, buying more machines and quickly got into commercial development work. As the business expanded, George started taking his business wherever there was work. And while Snyder X has done a lot of work in Pennsylvania, that also meant traveling to surrounding states for work too. In 2017, the Snyder X building in West Sunbury became home to our office and many machines.
Currently, Snyder X, formerly known also as Snyder Excavating, concentrates most of its work in commercial development, sports fields and facilities, and development for the gas and oil industry. However, we still stay true to where we started and take on some local residential projects.
George built Snyder X on the values of quality, work ethic, respect, safety, and teamwork. And early on in his business George earned a reputation for reliable, efficient, quality work. George continues to instill these values and great work in his family owned and operated business and he hopes to continue to grown the business for the generations to come.
